It is true that 5050 diode is brighter than 3528 but there is also a difference in the size. The 5050 diode is bigger than the 3528 diode. As a matter of face, the 5050 LED light is actually made up of multiple 3528 diodes. There is a big difference in brightness and light intensity. The 5050 gives out 18lm of light while the 3528 diode gives out 6lm of light. Naturally, there would also be a difference in the energy consumption of both the diodes. The 3528 consumes only 0.06w while 5050 consumes 0.18w. but even that is very low and not a major concern.
Both the 3528 and 5050 diodes are used in flexible strip lighting in most cases. If you want a bright and deeper light output, then you should get the 5050 diodes. For example, for decorations, home or office lighting, the 5050 is recommended but for accent lighting like on the stairs, the 3528 would be enough. There are also many manufacturers who make LED light bulbs for homes using these diodes. There will also be a difference in the price hence, you should carefully select the one which is suitable for you so that you don’t waste your money.
